Payments Analyst

  • Operations & Finance
  • Full-time
  • Melbourne, AU

About Us:

Kingside is a lean team of dedicated and experienced people supporting some of the fastest-growing platforms in the cryptocurrency, sports, and iGaming industries.

As we continue to expand, we’re looking for an analytical, hands-on Payments Analyst to join our Payments team. You’ll play a key role in keeping our fiat payments engine reliable, efficient and frictionless for players across our global markets.

The Role:

As a Payments Analyst, you’ll report to the Payment Operations Lead and work closely with Product, Engineering, Risk, Compliance and Customer Support.

You’ll catch system degradations before they impact players, dig into transaction-level data to diagnose issues, and drive improvements to approval rates and processing costs. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being the bridge between deep transaction metrics and cross-functional execution.

What We’re Looking For:

We are seeking someone with 1–3 years of experience in payments, fintech, iGaming or global e-commerce who thrives on data-driven decision-making. You should be comfortable working with transaction-level data and PSP performance metrics, and have a good grasp of how payment orchestration routes and optimises transactions across multiple providers. You’ll know how to spot the story behind a drop in approval rates or a spike in failed withdrawals. You should also be able to turn your findings into clear actions for internal teams and external partners.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience: 1–3 years in payments, gambling, global e-commerce, online retail payments, fintech or with PSPs.

  • Knowledge: A solid understanding of payment flows, APIs, PSPs, acquirers and payment orchestration across card, bank transfer and local payment methods.

  • Fraud Awareness: Working knowledge of payment fraud typologies (chargebacks, account takeover, mule activity) and rule and threshold tuning.

  • Mindset: High agency and a “solution-first” attitude, with sound judgement under time pressure.

  • Collaboration: Proven ability to work cross-functionally and directly with external PSP technical contacts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • PSP & Orchestrator Integration: Support the technical and operational integration of new PSPs, from requirements gathering and rules configuration through UAT and go-live.

  • Performance Monitoring & Alerting: Build and maintain dashboards and automated alerts for approval rates, latency, uptime and settlement times, so teams know about anomalies before players do.

  • Deep-Dive Analysis & Escalations: Investigate drops in approval rates, error codes and routing issues, tracing them through the orchestrator, PSP, acquirer and banking rails to find the root cause. Own and triage payment escalations from Customer Support, and fix recurring patterns to reduce volume and resolution time.

  • Provider Relations: Manage day-to-day relationships with PSPs and payment partners to resolve issues and keep acceptance rates high.

  • Conversion, Cost & Process Optimisation: Evaluate deposit and withdrawal conversion alongside fees by PSP. Review payment flows, routing logic and operational processes to lift approval rates, cut costs and scale with growing volumes.

  • Fraud Prevention: Monitor deposits and withdrawals for suspicious patterns, and tune rules and thresholds without adding friction for legitimate players.

  • Reporting & Documentation: Produce payment performance reporting and PSP scorecards for leadership. Keep clear documentation of integrations, configurations and escalation playbooks.

Skills & Attributes:

  • Data Analysis: Proficiency with data analysis, BI and monitoring tools.

  • Advanced Spreadsheets: Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups and modelling).

  • Problem Solving: Able to interpret transaction-level data and translate it into actionable recommendations.

  • Communication: Clear communicator with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Project Management: Able to balance multiple integrations, investigations and escalations at once.

Highly Beneficial If You Have:

  • Experience with a payment orchestration platform.

  • Experience with local payment methods across multiple international markets.

  • Experience launching payments in new markets at pace.

  • In-depth knowledge of the online gambling landscape.

Note: This role is based in Melbourne, Australia, and may require occasional travel.
